SEAWA will be holding a free Community Educational forum on April 5th, 2019!

This event will focus on Water Management in the SEAWA watershed.

Water management is important to understand on individual, municipal, provincial and federal levels. The area within the SEAWA watershed is semi-arid, almost as dry as a desert. Proper management of southern Alberta’s water is critical for healthy ecosystems, to meet human consumption needs, and for economic success. Water management, and understanding future supply forecasts, can ensure the availability and quality of the water within the SEAWA watershed. It is important for individuals to understand the laws and regulations around waterbodies, whether they be on private or public land, and the reasons behind them.

Speakers from the University of Regina, CE Analytic, Bow River Basin Council, and the private sector will give presentations about water quality and quantity in southern Alberta, the effect of climate change on water supplies, how municipalities can conserve and protect wetlands, reviewing the Water Management Plan 2006, and more!

NOTE: If you are a member of an environmental organization and would be interested in setting up a booth/display at this event, please contact Brooklyn at brooklyn.neubeker@seawa.ca.
