Twelve seats on the SEAWA Board are open for nomination from the membership.
The agenda includes a presentation on Surface Water Quality in the South Saskatchewan River Sub-Basin, by Natalie Kromrey.

Registration is Open for the Rural Stewardship Forum!
SEAWA would like to invite you to our free Rural Stewardship Educational Forum! The day will include talks and discussion about themes from the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan, challenges faced by large land owners, and the future of the Environmental Farm Plan. A panel of producers and ranchers from southeast Alberta will also provide their experiences with various best management practices. Registration and coffee will begin at 8:00am and lunch will be provided for participants.If you have any food restrictions, please let us know at email@example.com. Caring for our Watersheds
The Caring for our Watersheds program is an environmental educational competition that encourages creativity and rewards students for the solutions they identify. Caring for our Watersheds Partners with Communities, including the South East Alberta Watershed Alliance, to create focused solutions to local watershed issues. Each year students are invited to submit a proposal that answers the question: “What can you do to improve your watershed?” The program rewards the students and the school who submit the most creative, thought-provoking and innovative ideas! Implementation funding and community mentorship is available to turn the student’s ideas into realistic solutions.

The Great Waters Challenge is designed to showcase the deep connection that lies between our water and our identity as Canadians—from indigenous traditional knowledge to western practices. By discovering many stories about our water’s past, we can better understand how it will influence our future. The Great Waters Challenge will invite you to learn about your relationship with water and the role water has played in shaping the identity of your community. The challenge includes an online experience composed of four tasks and hands on experience including training workshops and action days.
Registration closes on February 2nd, 2017. There is player and school team registration.

Urban Sustainability – Community Educational Forum
November 4, 2016, Medicine Hat. Join us for a day to learn about current ideas, trends, and practices in environmental sustainability of cities. We have speakers from the University of Calgary, Faculty of Environmental Design; City of Calgary, and City of Medicine Hat. Registration and agenda will be posted soon.

SEAWA AGM – South East Alberta Watershed Alliance is holding its 9th Annual General Meeting on April 28, 2016. Seven seats in different member categories of the Board are open for election at the AGM.

March 22 is UN World Water Day, and we are helping to celebrate with displays, a forum, a walk by the river, and a guided tour of the fresh water treatment plant. Mark your calendars with these events now. The events are planned jointly by GN, SEAWA, and the Shortgrass and Medicine Hat College Libraries.

A guided Walk along the South trail along the river between Police Point Park and Maple Avenue Bridge.
Saturday, March 21, 2 pm Tour of Water Treatment Plant off of Hwy #1 near the TCH Bridge. Please register by emailing email@example.com. (There is maximum of 30 participants, so don’t delay!)
Sunday, March 22, 2 pm Forum on Water. Confirmed speakers are Rob Gardner (Beaver’s role in regulating water supply) and Peter Wallis (water quality)
Last two weeks of March the public is encouraged to explore the water displays at the public libraries and college libraries.
