Gavin is a Computer Science and Mathematics undergraduate, studying at the University of Calgary. During his time at SEAWA, Gavin co-authored SEAWA's South Saskatchewan River Sub-Basin Chloride Report, as well as other various administrative and technical tasks. Some of his secondary projects included the development of a river tributary viewer, the SEAWA website, and quantitative research for the upcoming State of the Watershed Report. -

Hannah recently graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Management from Lakeland College. She completed her academic practicum with a consulting firm in Medicine Hat, evaluating how vegetation predicts grassland songbird occurrence. Looking ahead, she plans to continue her conservation journey by pursuing a Master of Wildlife Biology degree at the University of Guelph. Currently working as a Junior Watershed Science Communication Assistant at SEAWA, Hannah's summer project is focused on a scoping survey to understand the state of local wetland knowledge and data available in southeast Alberta. Her project hopes to provide insight into the complex history of our relationship to wetlands and identify areas for future research on this vital topic. When she isn't diving into environmental data, Hannah enjoys hiking, bird watching, hanging out with her two cats, and reading. -

Returning for a second summer, Shariq has continued to expand the organization's community outreach initiatives while contributing to his primary project of strengthening SEAWA's governance framework. This year, he has developed comprehensive onboarding materials for new Board members, including educational videos and training materials designed to support effective governance and help Board members succeed in their roles. A recent graduate of the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Shariq enjoys playing video games, building PCs, staying active at the gym, and spending time with friends.
