Educational Tours with MHC Students at Connaught Pond

SEAWA staff and members were lucky enough to spend two afternoons at Connaught Pond with students from Medicine Hat College! On September 23, 2021, we spent a sunny afternoon with 27 Education students, split into two groups. We discussed native plant identification, how to suppress invasive species, and the effects of beavers in an aquatic ecosystem. With their new knowledge of plants and restoration methods, the students were required to create a lesson plan for their practicum.

October 1, 2021, we spent the afternoon with six students from the Environmental Reclamation Technician program. This groups discussed various restoration methods and the native plant species that have been planted at Connaught Pond.
